ReportingAs part of their Covenant obligations signatories are required to submit two types of documents that demonstrate their aims and achievements against Covenant goals and targets. These documents, action plans and annual reports, are then sent for assessment against Covenant requirements and if registered placed on this website for public view.
It is highly recommended that signatories form a committee to oversee their Covenant undertakings. It is very difficult to cover all the aspects of an action plan and annual report if only one person is involved. By getting representatives from the whole organisation involved signatories not only lessen the work load but they get input and ideas from across the organisation and will find it much easier to educate the rest of the business about the benefits and requirements of the Covenant. Signatories can also engage a consultant to help them to prepare their plans and reports. A list of consultants who have assisted Covenant Signatories in the past is available from the Secretariat.
The Australian Packaging Covenant Council (APCC) is also required to prepare a report each year against Covenant goals, targets and KPIs. The report first goes to the Ministers for environment but is then available to all signatories, stakeholders and the community. The report is used by Ministers and stakeholders to evaluate the Covenants success.
As part of Covenant Council’s undertaking there are also ‘special’ reports required to look at ways of making the Covenant more successful. This includes things like improving data collection and reporting or reducing the barriers to the Covenant achieving its success.
